Intrigued by other human beings, she decides that she will try to make the lives of those around her better. Her isolation notwithstanding, Amelie has a very lively, rich inner world. She was homeschooled because her parents thought that she had a coronary defect. Work apart, she comes from an isolated background. In the film, Audrey Tauto, plays Amélie Poulain, a shy and imaginative young waitress. It was directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet and was nominated for five Oscars. Amélie is one of the most beloved French classics of all time.
